Who we are
Independent student-led. Practitioner-led. No shareholders.
CGS brings defenders together so no team faces a shared threat alone. Our independent student-led team and community practitioners lead workshops, drills, and responses to strengthen collective defense.

Why we exist
Cyber risk is shared. Defense should be too.
Defenders need somewhere to compare decisions and strengthen collective response — before incidents happen, not after.
How we work
Principles that change how we work together.
Not slogans. Rules that actually shape what happens inside CGS.
01
Actionable intelligence
Signals must be useful under pressure — not just interesting in hindsight.
02
Truly collaborative
Peers share context across org lines without exposing sensitive ops.
03
Private by design
Trust is engineered into how we store, share, and discuss sensitive work.
04
Inclusive and diverse
Defense improves when more vantage points are in the room.
Community rules
Clear boundaries. No exceptions.
Membership depends on protecting people, systems, and trust. These standards apply to every CGS space and activity.

Written authorization is mandatory
Do not scan, test, access, or modify any system unless you have explicit written permission and a defined scope.
RULE 02
Stay inside the agreed scope
No disruption, persistence, data extraction, credential use, or testing of third-party systems. Stop immediately if scope is unclear.
RULE 03
Protect information
Collect the minimum necessary evidence. Keep client, member, and incident details confidential; never post them in public channels.
RULE 04
Handle findings responsibly
Report security issues through the agreed private channel. Do not publish details or proof-of-concept material before authorization.
RULE 05
Be honest and respectful
No fabricated findings, impersonation, harassment, discrimination, threats, or retaliation against any community member.
RULE 06
Follow the law and platform rules
Every member is responsible for complying with applicable laws, contracts, and the rules of the systems they use.
RULE 07
Violations have consequences
CGS may suspend access, remove membership, preserve relevant records, and refer serious suspected illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.
